Colin Carmody is a native of the Washington, DC metropolitan area. He is a fourth-generation graduate of Gonzaga College High School. Mr. Carmody recently graduated from The College of William & Mary in May 2022 as a double major in Music and Mathematics.

Mr. Carmody began piano lessons at age five with Suzanne Smith (2005 - 2018). He has studied with Prof. Maria Yefimova (2019 - 2022). Throughout high school, he taught himself to play the pipe organ in order to perform the Gonzaga Alma Mater at school assemblies. Mr. Carmody now formally studies organ and harpsichord with with Prof. Thomas Marshall (2018 - 2022). Mr. Carmody has been a guest organist at various churches and an accompanist for pop soloists, choirs, theater, and internationally renowned soprano Grace Mead. He is also an accomplished singer, combining over 12 years of musical theater, vocal lessons with Lani Jacobson (2014 - 2018), and 9 years with the Fairfax Choral Society, among other experiences.

Not long after Mr. Carmody began playing the piano, he began composing for it. To date, he has written and arranged over 50 works, including pieces for full orchestra, piano/keyboard solo, choir, and a one-act musical. He recently conducted the William & Mary Symphony Orchestra performing the premiere of his “Sinfonietta in C” on March 10th, 2022 in the Commonwealth Auditorium at the William & Mary Sadler Center.

Mr. Carmody is the winner of the Virginia Music Teachers Association 2021 Concerto Competition (College Division) playing the Shostakovich Piano Concerto no.2 in F Major, 1st movt. He earned a 90-point cup at the National Federation of Music Clubs Piano Spring Festival, representing top ratings for 13 consecutive years in solo performance and four consecutive years in concerto performance. Additionally, he won second place in the 2017 National Federation of Music Clubs Stillman Kelley Competition in piano.

Mr. Carmody also has a strong background in audio engineering and music technology. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, he led his a cappella group, DoubleTake, through the production of numerous virtual performances, amassing well over 60,000 views. He served as the Recording Engineer of pit orchestra for the Sinfonicron Light Opera Company 2022 production of Camelot. He is currently the audio technician/recording engineer of the William & Mary Music Department.
